Pool Fence meets the CA Barrier Code

Pool Fence by Folsom Lake Fence CompanyCalifornia, along with 4 other states, enacted  a barrier code (referred to as the CA Barrier Code) January 1, 2007.  Now, this Barrier Code is a GOOD code, as every year there is too many accidental drownings.  The code must be adhered to if you are building a new pool or resurfacing an existing pool, operating a day care facility, a requirement of adoptions and foster care facilities.  Additional, counties can impose county specific regulations.

Removable pool fencing, aka Pool Guard pool fence, can be used to meet the CA Barrier Code.  The removable pool fencing must meet the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Specifications F2286 and be installed with a self-closing and self-latching gate with a key lock.

Also, the code has installation requirements.  Code requires the fence height  be 5′ (60 inches).  The gate must open outwards and there can be ‘no more’ than a 4″ gap in the perimeter of the fencing.
